SilverRock Wealth Partners President and CEO, Derek Copeland, is a graduate of the University of Florida where he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame. There, Derek was named the “1996 Outstanding Male Graduate,” the school’s top honor. A Tampa native and lifelong student of finance, Derek started investing in the stock market at the age of 12 with funds that he raised from mowing lawns. From that point on, financial planning has been a passion for him which he parlayed into a career he loves.
Derek Copeland is very active in the community, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Foundation and is President of the Board for the Steve Smith Family Foundation. In 2014, he was honored with the “Man of the Year” award from the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society in Charlotte, NC.
Derek and his wife Lori live in Charlotte, NC with their four young children and dog, Bandit. He enjoys golf, tennis, fishing and spending time with his family as much as possible.
Chris Carpenter, AAMS®
Before joining the SilverRock financial advisors, Chris Carpenter was a professional baseball player for the Cubs and Red Sox. Originally from Bryan, OH, he graduated with honors from Kent State University where he was also a four-year letterman for the Golden Flashes baseball team. Chris was the Conference Pitcher of the Year, as well as Honorable Mention All-American. In 2008, Chris was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the Third Round of the MLB Draft. He played for five seasons with the Cubs, highlighted by his Major League Debut in 2011. Chris was then traded to the Boston Red Sox where he played for two seasons before being recruited to play in Japan for the Tokyo Swallows in 2014. Chris retired from baseball in 2015 after playing for eight seasons.
Chris takes his infinite drive for success, along with the real-life lessons that he learned during those eight years over to SilverRock Wealth Partners. Chris has seen firsthand the success and pitfalls that ultimately derail professional athletes. From the life-changing moments on draft day, to the final time the jersey is taken off, Chris is dedicated to serving only the best interests of his clients.
Chris is actively involved in the community and serves on the Board of Directors for the Steve Smith Family Foundation. He is also an advocate for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. His mother is a two-time breast cancer survivor.
Chris lives in Charlotte with his wife, Sarah, their two children, Blair & CJ, and their two dogs, Buddy & Teddy. Chris enjoys golfing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
